lyrics

I've seen a lot in two hundred thousand years.
I can't say it's all been educational.
I must admit that I'm a bit ashamed for my conduct.
You get to feel a little like an animal.

But it's so easy,
Reach out and seize it.
Pick it up; eat it.
Even if you don't need it,
It's there for you.

Why should I apologize for my design?

And the destroyer will return, as the world darkens.
South will become north as the destroyer comes forth.
Wreaking havoc as it nears, ripping apart the atmosphere.
Fear, is a powerful emotion.
It does wonders to a man's otherwise reasonable notions
of plausibility.
And as for me, I do, I feel a certain responsibility for the work my hands have done.

I heard the birds,
Singing underneath a clear blue sky.
They spoke to me and I realized the error of my ways.

But old habits die hard.
And I'm not the type to compromise.
Why sacrifice your way of life?
I ask, why sacrifice for theory?

For is not comfort the goal of every living thing?
For all the fishes in the sea and those singing birds up in those trees.
And yet as sorry as I may feel about all these changes that I see,
Who am I to say what's unnatural?

The birds said, "Listen", and so I did.
The birds said, "Listen", and so I did.
The birds said, "Listen", and so I did.
The birds said, "Listen".
I did.
